This last weekend, my whole family went to Moab! It was fun... But the circumstances could definitely have been better! :) Hannah asked us about a month ago if we could all make a weekend work to go on a lil trip for her birthday weekend. She really wanted to go to Moab, so we all all made it work! Zach and I took the day off work to drive down on Friday with my sister Heather, her hubby James, Sage and Hannah. Zach made plans to take his dads big truck so we could all drive together. We headed down around 11:00. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive, not too bad. We got there around 3:00, and were starving! We had a nice lunch at the Moab Diner. The rest of the night was pretty chill. We went to set up our tent after lunch. It was definitely not what any of us had in mind. The campsites were super close together, and not far from the main road.. Not the "real" camping feel, but there was a marathon the next day, and pretty much everything was booked. After we set up, we drive around a bit and James showed us some cool places where people go jeeping down there. We got some groceries and went back to camp to make a fire and dinner! It was about 8:00, and the entire campgrounds were like a ghost town.. No fires, nobody out, and quiet. We knew some were getting up early to run, but turns out about half the people camping there were running! So needless to say, to be considerate, we had to stay super quiet the rest of the night. Good thing about the campsite is they had electricity, showers, and wifi, so Zach got to finish his homework! :) we are dinner and just hung out until my parents and Brian and Amanda pulled in around midnight. They all climbed in our tent for the night, good thing we took our 10 man tent, fit everyone nice but snug :) the temps got down to freezing that night. We were prepared, but nothing is worse than waking up during the night to chilling air and a cold nose! Saturday morning James and Zach made an amazing breakfast in the Dutch oven! It was superrr windy that day. Everyone except Heather, James and Sage (she had a cold) went on the hike to the arches. It's beautiful there! The hike was definitely windy, and much longer than expected, but we made it! So fun! When we got back to camp, the guys and Hannah went shooting (although not much of that was done either due to the wind) and the girls got ready and went to the shops on Main Street. The guys met up with us after, and we all went to an amazing dinner at a place called Zax! We made another fire that night, and sat around and talked. It wasn't quite as much of a ghost town so that was nice :) Sunday morning, we grabbed a quick breakfast and packed up. Heather and James had family pictures that afternoon, so we had a leave a little earlier. Despite the cold weather and wind, we still had a fun weekend trip! It's always nice to spend time with family!
Don't mind my mismatched outfit.. It's the only hoodie I took! :)
Celebrated Hannah's birthday dinner at Zax! Yummy!
